Digital cameras remain a popular choice of Christmas present. Indeed, it’s no surprise that digital photography, with its blend of state of the art gadgetry and wholesome hobbyist overtones, is still a fast growing pastime.

You may be thinking that this is the way you want your wedding to be done, but in the end this way will usually be worse on you then if you did the entire wedding yourself. No matter how well you think you have planned things, some things will inevitable go wrong.

The photography school teaches you all the technical aspects of digital photography. The circuit, the shutter, the flash and on and on and on the battery you have to use. So if you have decided to take just photographs, good ones it is not necessary that you should enroll to learn the History or Geography of the art.

Quite often, many basic editing tasks can be done in the camera itself after the picture is taken including some simple cropping, removing red eye from flash photos, and rotation from landscape to portrait and vice versa. For many people, this is about all that they require anyway before printing out their snapshots, and this keeps things very easy and simple. But to start to realize the potential that digital photography puts in the hands of the average person, a photo editing software program will be needed where you upload your photos from the camera to your computer and then open them in the program. Here you can gently touch up your photo making the dark areas darker and the lighter areas lighter to achieve greater or lesser contrast. There are countless other methods and techniques you can use with Photoshop to better your images without having them look like they have been altered. Selective blurring can give the impression of movement, you can change certain areas of a photo such as the color of a specific object, red eye effects can be removed, skin blemishes and spots can be hidden and even with a little more skill and knowledge, complete makeovers can be achieved. However, newer LCD displays and such are fixed at a certain resolution; making the resolution lower on these kinds of screens will greatly decrease sharpness, as an interpolation process is used to "fix" the non-native resolution input into the displays native resolution output. The best thing about digital cameras is that it's easy to take thousands of pictures. That's also the worst thing about digital cameras. After you've owned your camera for a few months, you won't be able to find that great picture you took a couple of months ago if your pictures aren't well organized or named logically. Folders are the best way to organize groups of pictures, and the My Pictures folder is a great place to start. In your My Pictures folder, create a sub folder for each year: 2004, 2005, 2006, and so on. This might seem silly the first year you own your camera, but after five years, you'll be glad you did this because you can go back to your 2005 folder and easily find a picture from a vacation you took that year. Arranging pictures by year is also helpful if you're scanning older photos stored in shoe boxes or albums that you took before owning a digital camera. This is also a good way to start organizing the pictures that you currently have on your computer.

While it is popularly believed that the first photograph was probably taken earlier, the official invention of photography was made in 1839 by French artist and chemist Louis J.M. Daguerre. In conjunction with Joseph Nicphore Nipce, they built upon a discovery made by Johann Heinrich Schultz in 1724 regarding how a certain silver nitrate and chalk mixture darkened when exposed to light. The daguerreotype, or earliest type of photograph, was born.
