Halloween is just around the corner, coming up on October 31, and it is important for you to let your toddler child have a chance at joining in on the Halloween festivities. Just because your toddler is not old enough to really understand the process of choosing their toddler Halloween costume and trick or treating door to door, or carving the Jack-o'-Lantern, or any of the lore or history behind this special occasion, that simply does not mean that they cannot be included with the adults and the older children who are celebrating as ghouls, ghosts, goblins, mummies and pirates.

Let your toddler get into the Halloween spirit by helping them choose from appropriate toddler costumes. When choosing a toddler Halloween costume, it is vital for you to go simple because your toddler will not be able to deal with something more complex, or a costume that has buckles, zippers, a lot of warmth or heavy parts.

As trick-or-treating usually requires a bit of walking, you surely do not want an irritated or crying toddler that just wants to be out of the costume. So keeping in mind that Halloween will always be a big holiday for children and the main objective is to ensure that the costume your toddler wears is safe and comfortable.

Use your creativity to make some of your child's costume. Although many toddler Halloween costumes come in a large variety of shapes and sizes, some of the accessories that come along with the costumes aren't very adjustable. So many parents find that when dressing a toddler in his or her Halloween costume that it is very helpful to make some of the pieces at home. There are numerous materials, cloth and otherwise that can be used when making your toddler's costume. This will also help to ensure that your child will be happy in his or her costume.

So when it comes time for a door to door trick or treat celebration on Halloween, keep your toddler's comfort and safety in mind when choosing toddler costumes. Little boy toddlers can choose between many costumes including bats, crows, goblins, mummies, zombies, skeletons, demons, spirits, werewolves, pumpkins and many others. Little girl toddlers may opt instead to be a fairy, an angel or even a girl pirate.

To make sure that you have the greatest selection to choose form when it comes to trick-or-treating on Halloween it is important that you start looking for your costume early, no matter what type of costume it is. Even if you get it early, you can let your little one wear the costume before Halloween to make sure that he or she is used to and likes to wear it. This makes it much easier when Halloween actually comes and your toddler needs to put on the costume.

A holiday that is fun, full of surprises and safe is what you want for your toddler. You may want to consider your toddler when trick-or-treating and avoid houses that are scary as this could actually cause them to not enjoy themselves and can even put them off Halloween if they have a bad experience. Remember to carry a flashlight and have a fun sack that your toddler can carry to keep his or her treats and other items in. Make sure you know when your toddler is getting tired and irritable so that you know when to call it a night. Your toddler will probably last a lot longer in a toddler costume that allows a lot of movement and a lot of breathing room. Edited by Hetsil Protage
