View PDF | Print View

When it comes time for redecorating or remodeling in order to bring health and energy into your home, you may want to analyze feng shui and see if it can truly help in these regards. For example, how does the use of color add vitality and energy, or on the other hand, calm and relax you? How can de-cluttering your environment do the same?

By dedicating some time and thought to these subjects, you can start to analyze feng shui and find out if there are any scientific principles that you can apply in your decorating project.

Use of Colors in Feng Shui

When you analyze feng shui and its use of colors, you need to first of all understand how color affects your mood and your overall feeling. Bright and lively colors do energize you; imagine trying to be upbeat or perky in an all-black room. Doesnt that harsh and stark color instead make you feel brought down, even depressed?

That's why many people choose to decorate their kitchens in shades of orange or yellow. When we analyze the feng shui principle of using these colors in this room, we realize that they're associated with sanitation, cleanliness, and an upbeat feelings.

Lack of Clutter In Feng Shui

If you analyze feng shui, you will see that clutter and excessive items are not recommended. Clutter has been shown to make people feel anxious and stressed. Clutter is a constant reminder of things that need to be done, such as broken appliances, laundry that needs to be folded, socks that need darning and so on. This nagging voice in the back of your head will do nothing to encourage positive energy.

Analyze Feng Shui for Your Own Home

How can you apply these two basic principles in your own home? Well, you dont need to be a decorator or an interior designer to understand color. Take a good, honest look at each room of your home. How do you feel when you stand in the doorway? Are you energized, do you feel drawn into that room? Or does the overall look and feel depress you; do you avoid this room for any particular reason? When you analyze feng shui, you need to be able to have that overall look for your homes rooms as well.

Of course, there aren't any sure rules about what constitutes clutter. Just remember to be honest when you make your assessment. Ask yourself if the things you've been holding onto are adding value to your life or just bringing you down. Decide what type of energy you perceive when looking at them, and thing about whether or not you're keeping things for good or bad reasons. Don't hang onto items "just in case". The negative energy you bring into your home is much greater than the uses these items might have.

If you can spend some time and analyze feng shui, you will be able to use it in your life and home. Just by applying these few simple principles, you can derive some great benefits.
